Yellow-headed Blackbird Spotted in Orlando!?

...More from Marcus in Orlando

Marcus in Orlando let us know about this unusual siting of a Yellow-headed Blackbird in Orlando, Florida by Andrew Boyle.  The below picture was not taken with the BirdCam.

Andrew writes:

Hello All

After picking up the van from the dealer and getting some confirmation sightings from yesterday, I headed back to look for the Yellow-headed Blackbird which would be my last chance.

Another birder, Susan from Tampa, was already there and said she thought she had seen it. We settled in on the concrete culvert across from the last sighting spot and discussed birds and waited.

Within minutes, the bird popped out and then back into the bull rushes only to disappear again. We waited some more. This time with confidence since we could clearly make out the yellow in even that brief glance.

After about 45 minutes, the bird hopped out onto the fence and then back behind a few strands of bull rush but we could still clearly see it preening.

Susan left, happy with the tick, and I continued to wait for a possible open shot. Just as I was about to head home, it dropped down to get a drink and then popped out in the open again for a few seconds before diving back into the depths of the grasses.

Yellow-headed Blackbird...Yes!

I left about 2 PM.
